Energy solutions provider Sinanen Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Takashi Yasuda, hereinafter "Sinanen") will launch the "entrance waterproof pan", entranceway flooring with waterproof specifications for residences, on October 1 (Friday). The product has been jointly developed with residential building material and interior product manufacturer and seller TOLI Corporation (Headquarters: Itami City, Hyogo, President and Representative Director: Motohiro Nagashima, hereinafter "TOLI") and represents the first waterproof entranceway flooring in Japan that is integrally molded with a flooring sheet, simplifying construction work for entrance earth flooring.

■Background to development: Utilizing the technology built up in washing machine waterproof pans for building materials

Sinanen launched its washing machine waterproof pan in 1995, and been selling its own brand product "BESTRAYⓇ" for drum-type washing machines since 2006. Through its installation under the washing machine, the washing machine waterproof pan prevents water leaking from the connection point between the drain hose and the drain port on the floor when the washing water is drained to the drain port during washing. In the past, Sinanen has developed easy to install washing machine waterproof pans of different types depending on the type of washing machine and installation location, etc.

The "entrance waterproof pan" being launched on this occasion is a product that has been newly developed for residential entranceways through the use of the technology Sinanen has accumulated in washing machine waterproof pans. It is tough to pass on the technology at residential construction sites due to the high level of expertise, and it is also said that a shortage of craftsmen is an issue. In addition, in an era where lifestyles are becoming more diverse, there is growing demand for well designed entrance earth floors for shared residential buildings such as apartments.

Sinanen has gained an understanding of such issues and needs through its provision of products to customers of homebuilders in the past, and has developed the "entrance waterproof pan" in order to simplify construction as well as to realize a well designed home.

■The four features of the "entrance pan"

(1) Reduces construction work - Reduces three processes that require expertise into one simple job -

In the conventional construction and renovation of wooden apartments, construction of entranceway floors is split into the three processes of "1. Waterproofing work," "2. Foundation work," and "3. Surface finishing work," with each of these jobs needing to be performed by a different specialist. This "entrance waterproof pan" does not require any specialized work, and requires just one step of installing it in line with the entrance earth floor and pasting it with adhesive, allowing for entranceway floors to be completed easily. This reduces the time required for construction, and also leads to cost savings.

(2) A wide variety of design options - Options with anti-virus specifications, etc., are also available -

The joint development with TOLI, who has an exceptional track record in flooring design, has allowed us to offer a variety of design patterns. Custom made designs are also available, allowing us to realize coordinated entranceways that meet the desires of the customer. In addition, easy to clean non-wax specifications, anti-virus specifications, and various other options are available.

(3) Waterproofing work is not required due to the resin integrated molding (*Joint patent with TOLI currently pending)

The tray shape achieved through the resin product integrally molded with the surface material stops water droplets from entering through gaps, and demonstrates reliable waterproofness. The rounding of corners makes it easy to remove by cleaning dust and water that accumulates in the corners of entranceways and which often lead to black mold.

(4) Uses an environmentally friendly recycled resin

A recyclable polyvinyl chloride resin that conforms with the Act on the Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources is used. The material can be recycled again when it is replaced.

■Aiming to expand usage applications and demand through the use of flooring sheet integral molding technology, with a focus on homebuilders

Sinanen will promote adoption in wooden apartment buildings, and will aim to sell 50,000 units per year in FY 2025, with a focus on homebuilders. We will aim to make entrance earth floors unit products, with the "waterproof entrance pan" serving as the axis for this, and will also embark on development to save even more time in the construction of residential buildings.

In addition, we will look at the use of flooring sheet integrated molding technology for purposes other than entranceways for which waterproofness and simplified construction are required, and that allow for diversified design, and will cater to the diversifying needs for housing.

Moving forward, Sinanen, through its washing machine waterproof pan and entrance waterproof pan manufacturing and sale business, towards the realization of a carbon-free society, will continue to contribute to the construction of environmentally friendly residences and towns that are safe and comfortable, and in addition, will contribute to the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) "9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure" and "12: Responsible consumption and production."
