(Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Masaki Yamazaki, hereinafter "Sinanen Holdings"), a comprehensive energy, housing, and daily-life services provider, are pleased to announce that sales of Melife carbon neutral LP gas has started at Melife business offices nationwide from September 26. This carbon neutral LP gas can offset CO2 emissions through the purchase of credits and is part of the Group's initiatives that aim for carbon neutrality.

With Melife carbon neutral LP gas, the CO2 emissions produced in the life cycle of LP gas from drilling to final consumption are offset through the purchase of credits, which results in net zero CO2 emissions.

The Group has started sales of Melife carbon neutral LP gas with the aim of contributing towards achieving decarbonization for customers in all regions. Each Melife company will work towards the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 3,000 tons in FY2023 and 30,000 tons in FY2027.

In addition to Melife carbon neutral LP gas (J-Credits) that includes J-Credits certified by the Japan government, the Group will also add Melife carbon neutral LP gas (voluntary credits) to its lineup. This gas includes voluntary credits certified by private organizations for the amount of absorbed greenhouse gas and the amount of reduced greenhouse gas.

CO2 reduction through J-Credits contributes to official reporting figures that include the Act on Promotion of Global Warming Countermeasures, and is especially effective for corporations who have established specific reduction goals while emitting large amounts of CO2. In contrast, voluntary credits can be more easily implemented. These type of credits are suitable for corporations who wish to disseminate information to the market and stakeholders and also wish to improve their corporate image. Customers can select which type of credit they prefer from this lineup based on their needs and the features of each type of credit.

In the future, with the goal of further expanding its initiatives, the Group will also consider offsets for CO2 emissions created by other products it handles such as electricity and petroleum, and support the implementation of energy saving devices. In addition, the Group will enable issues concerning all CO2 emissions generated at business sites that are incidental to energy consumption to be resolved in a centralized manner so as to provide the best mix of services that meet the needs of its users.

 Sinanen Holdings and each Melife company will continue to develop services that address diversifying lifestyles and changes in needs to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized and sustainable society.
