Sinanen Holdings Co., Ltd. New Year's Message for 2025

-Promote company transformation and fly to higher highs as a unified Group-

It is with great pleasure that we deliver this new year's greeting to you all.

Looking back at 2024, the House of Representatives member elections in Japan and presidential elections in the US were held, leading to changes in political power structures and offering a hint of transformations in the global economy and circumstances that await us. In the energy industry, energy supply and demand continues to be in a highly uncertain position due to the impact of geopolitical risks, etc. In Japan, the Act on the Securing of Safety and the Optimization of Transaction of Liquefied Petroleum Gas was revised in April, aiming to ensure that energy business operators once again remain compliant and highly transparent in our transactions. On the other hand, efforts toward the green transformation (GX) to achieve a decarbonized society by 2050 have accelerated, leading to the development and verification of various new technologies. As an energy company bearing social and public missions, we recognize that we have growing role to secure safe and stable power sources, provide energy, and take efforts toward decarbonization and carbon reduction.

Under these circumstances, 2024 was the beginning of a new transformation for the Company Group, including the launch of our new management structure and transfer to our Shinagawa headquarters building. Returning our headquarters to Higashi-Shinagawa, the land of our founding, each and every member of our Group performed their work with a sense of returning to our roots, bearing a strong will to achieve our mission to improve "the lives of our customers," the spirit passed down from our founding age, when the Company got into the mud to produce solid fuels.

In the future, the business environment will continue to transform at an even faster pace. Plus, the domestic market is expected to see less demand from end users due to population decline and the lower birth rate and aging society issues, etc. Under these circumstances, the Group must also undergo further transformation in order to become a company group that can continue to be selected by customers by addressing various social issues and meeting the needs of our customers' lives. In order to realize the Group mission to "contribute to realizing a comfortable life for all customers in their communities through energy and home & life services," we must grasp the characteristics, issues, and needs of each region and provide services that are valuable to customers. By fusing the businesses and services operated by Group companies with each region, we can provide high quality services that meet the needs of customers. We must improve the "comprehensive capabilities" of the overall Group to solidify our path toward growth while adapting to the changes of the future. Also, in a social environment where the entire world is accelerating the move toward decarbonization, we recognize that we have a very important responsibility as an energy company in taking efforts toward decarbonization.

Under these circumstances, the Group is taking efforts for our five-year Medium-Term Management Plan to achieve its vision of "Evolution into a comprehensive energy life creation group that contributes to achieving a decarbonized society" by 2027, the 100th anniversary of our founding. In order to strengthen the management foundation and execute the growth strategy to realize our vision, we are undergoing a business structure transformation in 2025 centered on the growth strategy axes of (1) reorganization of the domestic business foundation and (2) strengthening of the retail service strategy. As announced on December 27, 2024, at the regular Board of Directors meeting held on the same date, Sinanen Holdings Co., Ltd. passed a resolution to begin deliberations on integrating and restructuring the core businesses of the Group, re-examining the business portfolio from a perspective of profitability and capital effectiveness improvement. Specifically, Melife-West Co., Ltd., Melife Co., Ltd., Melife-East Co., Ltd., and Sinanen Co., Ltd. are scheduled to merge on April 1, 2026.

The main business of the Group is an energy business rooted in local regions. In order to transform the existing energy business into a growth business, it is essential to create a structure so that every Group company provides personalized services addressing the smallest details from a user first perspective, meaning the perspective of customers in that region. We recognize that mergers and business reorganization of the main businesses are important measures toward that goal.

Also, within the Group, we started a Retail Service Promotion Project with members who will lead the next generation, and proceeded with efforts to enhance our businesses to become a pillar for the daily lives of customers in each region. By proceeding with these transformation, we aim to continue to be a company that every customer in every region is thankful for, trusts, and chooses.

On the other hand, transforming a company is not a simple matter. "Profit lies on the ground." "Profit lies outside." "Profit lies in people." These are my management beliefs. The driving force to transform the Company and grow is "people." Unless each and every employee grows, the Company cannot achieve this transformation. Therefore, we have built a "One Team" structure that collects the power of each Group employee and are focusing efforts to accelerate company transformation based on the dual axes of individual employee growth and company growth.

The Group is approaching its 100th anniversary in 2027, two years from now. We aim to fulfill our Group mission to "contribute to realizing a comfortable life for all customers in their communities through energy and home & life services." We also aim to keep the flame of service that our predecessors kept alive burning beyond this 100th anniversary. In order to do this, we will continue to take on challenges as a united Group and achieve ongoing growth.
