Sinanen Holdings Group's First In-house Operation Of Solar Sharing (Agrivoltaic Solar Power Generation)
-Towards the Spread of Power Generation Systems Derived from Renewable Energy Sources, Achieving Both Agriculture and Power Generation -
2024/01/15
Having engaged in environmental solutions business, Sinanen Facilities Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Okegawa City, Saitama, President and CEO: Eiji Kawana), a subsidiary of comprehensive energy, housing, and daily-life services provider, Sinanen Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Masaki Yamazaki), has purchased and started operating a solar sharing system (agrivoltaic solar power generation) in Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture. This is the first case of owning and operating a solar sharing system for the Sinanen Holdings Group.
■Background of the purchase
Solar sharing is an initiative whereby solar power generation systems are installed on agricultural land and power is generated while crops are grown. While the installation of solar power generation systems in Japan has advanced, suitable land for the new facilities is decreasing. However, the effective utilization of Japan's agricultural land, which totals some 4.325 million hectares*, is expected to provide suitable space for new solar power generation facilities.
As a comprehensive energy service group, Sinanen Holdings Group actively promotes initiatives toward the realization of a decarbonized society (carbon neutrality) by 2050 through the operation of renewable energy business and selling clean energy. Having developed and operated solar power generation facilities throughout Japan, the Group is now expanding into solar sharing. As its first project, Sinanen Facilities has purchased solar sharing in Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture, on the secondary market and has begun operations.
Sinanen Facilities is responsible for the operation of the power generation facilities in this solar sharing system. The power generation capacity is 49.5 kW, and the electricity generated will be sold using a FIT (feed-in tariff) scheme. Garlic is also cultivated at this power plant.
